Education and Experience
Vanessa earned her bachelor’s degree in Commercial Art and Advertising Design from Elon University.
After graduation from college she joined the United States Marine Corps and after graduating from The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia became a Public Information Officer. Lieutenant Bivens was assigned to the Pentagon where she orchestrated the schedules and performances of the National Marine Corps Band and Honor Guards. She was later assigned to the 2nd Marine Air Wing where she was promoted to Wing Protocol Officer as a member of the Wing Commander's Staff. In addition to Vanessa’s responsibilities on the Commander’s staff, her design degree was put to good use helping produce the base newspaper.
Prior to affiliating with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Vanessa worked at Coldwell Banker United, Realtors, as Sr. V.P., Regional Manager and NW Branch Manager for 25 years. Her responsibilities included strategic planning, sales support, recruitment, training, and team building. Her branch office was the Top Coldwell Banker Franchise Sales Office in Texas for 10 consecutive years and closed over 20,000 transactions during her tenure. She was named the 2012-2013 Austin, Texas Office Manager of the year by the Platinum Top 50 and Austin Board of Realtors.
Vanessa has achieved recognition at state and national levels for training and development expertise, serving as a panelist and speaker at trade shows and forums. She taught listing strategies for new sales associates at her former company as well as regional sales training for 5+years. She hired and trained over 500 sales agents during her management career.

Vanessa has an impressive track record of creatively guiding clients to position and market their homes and properties, both in person and digitally, for a successful sale. She focuses on careful analysis and pricing, staging, photography, social media, and networking. Vanessa is willing to do whatever it takes to get her listings sold.
Vanessa has worked every aspect of the industry representing sellers, buyers, investors, relocation companies, and banks in the residential market. She makes it a practice to continue her education to best serve her clients. Typically she is engaged in two or more classes a month to stay current with the newest marketing tools and trends.
Vanessa keeps informed so she can help her clients stay informed, and make better decisions to avoid potential real estate land mines.
Vanessa promotes market awareness and community relations through participation in fundraising and charity activities. She led her former office’s charity efforts collecting over $65K for the American Cancer Society during her last 5 years association.
She is an active member of her neighborhood, Kissing Camels, where she is a member of the Garden of the God’s Club, the Kissing Camels Women’s Club where she is on the Board of Directors. Vanessa and her husband Rex Peteet are fitness enthusiasts involved in hiking, running and weight training. They compete in fitness and running events several times a year. They have 4 children; Tara, Chase, Kate and Marissa.
